A compact field of six will make the start in this graded affair.  There are four Triple Crown nominated horses in the race, two of which mad it to the big dance, KD 139.  There is a fair amount of speed to keep the pace hot.  This race will showcase two of the best three year-olds in the country.  With a short field we will shy away from the 10 CENT Superfecta Box and deploy what we like to call the "Lambrakis method".  The strategy is named after superlative Southern California handicapper, Paul Lambrakis.  Heck he wrote a book about it; The 10 Cent Superfecta Betting Guide, available at www.10centsuperfecta.com.  We are in bankroll recovery mode now.  Any assistance we can acquire will make for a good day.

#2 Verrazano (J. Velazquez / Pletcher) should lead the field from start to finish.  he may have disappointed in his last out, the Kentucky Derby, but this fella rolled to four straight wins prior to that start.  He holds the second highest speed number at the distance and has put in three superb workouts.  He appears ready to go back to his winning ways.

#6 Itsmyluckyday (Smith / Plesa) will challenge with the highest last out speed number, the highest speed number at the distance, a two race progression, and two top-notch workouts.  He should track the pace and unleash in the stretch.  If the pace gets hot, it could be his lucky day.

#3 Edge of Reality (Elliott / A. Dutrow) could be in the mix with a quality pressing attack.  He holds the third best last out speed number, a three race progression, and three strong peaking workouts.  This guy is one of the four Triple Crown nominees that has the potential to prove his mettle.  He is our Bronze Horseshoe runner.

Belmont Stakes Day

Stakes Saturday arrives with the last of the Triple Crown races, The Belmont Stakes.

Belmont Park Race 11 {Belmont Stakes~G1~1 1/2 mile~3 year old~Stakes}
A fantastic field of fourteen will break from the gate in this fabulous Triple Crown race.  There are plenty of speedsters mixed with forwardly placed types to keep the pace rolling.  The two big winners of the earlier Triple Crown races are back, Kentucky Derby 139 winner, Orb and Preakness 138 winner Oxbow.  Both have a shot.  World class trainer, Todd Pletcher, has five entrants in the race.  Could his charges score the Exacta? Trifecta? Superfecta?  All of them look well primed and have some of the leading riders in the country on-board.  Belmont has experienced a good amount of rain over the last 24 hours which could put a damper on all handicapping efforts.  But this is a big one, let's give it a whirl.

A great group of eight will jog over to the gate in this graded stakes race.  Five in here were nominated to the Triple Crown, but all galloped off the trail for various reasons.  The entire field is composed of talented horses.  There is enough speed in here to set up for those coming from off the pace, but if controlled the forwardly placed might have an edge.  It is difficult to gauge.  Let's try to fashion a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket.

#8 Manando (M. Garcia / Baffert) should be the speedy favorite with the highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and three fine peaking workouts.  He holds the highest speed number at this distance and it 100% in the money at it in three attempts.  Will be the one to beat.

#1 Broadway Empire (V. Espinoza / Diodoro) should challenge with a sneaky pressing attack.  He holds the second highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and two stout workouts.  This fella has not been off the board in two career starts.  He is our Bronze Horseshoe runner.

#7 Dice Flavor (Smith / Gallagher) is coming off a failed effort in the UAE Derby in Dubai.  He holds the third highest speed number over synthetic and has put in four furious workouts.  This lad appears ready after a short layoff.  Expect him to track the pace and jump into the fray in the stretch.
