Stakes Saturday on Santa Anita Turf

We are a week away from the "Test of a Champion", The Belmont Stakes.  On this Stakes Saturday we take a look at a vibrant Turf race in sunny Southern California.

Santa Anita Park Race 8 {American Oaks~G1~1 1/4 mile~TURF~3 year old~fillies~Stakes}
A purely good crop of eight will take to the Turf in this wonderful graded stakes race.  There is a little bit of speed which may make the race even more interesting.  These gals are closely matched and any one of them is capable of making their way to the winners circle.

#3 Little Journey (Bravo / C. Brown) will be making her second North American start after successful racing in France. She holds the second highest last out speed number, is working a two race progression, and has put in three steady workouts.  This daughter of Great Journey [JPN] should track the pace closely and strike in the stretch.

#6 Tiz the Key (T. Baze / Mandella) should challenge in her third start of the form cycle.  She holds the third highest last out speed number covering this distance and has put in four superb workouts. As a daughter of Tiznow, she should be forwardly placed ready to pounce.
$2 PLACE  / $3 SHOW.

#4 Sweet Bliss (Nakatani / Shirreffs) will contend with a couple of very good last out speed numbers and two hearty workouts.  This daughter of Street Cry [IRE] enjoys the Santa Anita turf and should be closing fast through the stretch.

#5 Kissin Lucky Lips (Blanc / Puype) could be the big surprise if left alone on the lead.  She is the true lone speed  sharing the fourth highest last out speed number which has improved every time in her last five races.  This daughter of Dunkirk could be the bomb on today's Santa Anita card.

Pimlico Race 12 {Preakness~G1~1 3/16 mile~3 year old~Stakes}
A great field of ten will go to the post in this annual Triple Crown race.  The speed may be intense as the speedsters combined with pressers far out number the horses that like to come from off the pace.  Only three enter into this from KD 140 only two weeks ago.  Derby Champ, California Chrome, will make a valiant effort at capturing this second Triple Crown race.  It will be a glorious day for a exceptional race.

#10 Ride On Curlin (Rosario / Gowan) could be the upset.  He holds a couple of good last out speed numbers, is coming off a troubled trip in KD 140, and has put in two endurance producing, peaking workouts.  This happy son of Curlin will be rolling late into a speed-fest.  This lad is 80% in the money from 10 starts.
