Superfecta Sunday along the Surf

We look in on a nice mile race where the Surf meets the Turf.

Del Mar Race 8 {Torrey Pines~G3~1 mile~3 year-old~Fillies~Graded Stakes}

An assortment of scratches has reduced this field to five. We will seek to score a 10 CENT Superfecta on a eighty cent budget. All but one in the race enjoy being forwardly placed. Speed numbers are fairly close giving this a super competitive look despite the short field.

#7 Bellamentary (M. Garcia / D'Amato) looks to be the one to beat with the highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and four superb peaking workouts. This lass has the tactical speed to hang with the leading group sizing them up and sliding through to the finish. She is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.

#8 Belvoir Bay [GB] (N. Arroyo / Miller) should challenge while shifting from Turf to dirt. She holds a sound speed fig two starts back and has put in two endurance lifting workouts. This gal has three career wins and is 50% in the money from eight starts. She also has tactical speed to stay the course.

#5 She's a Warrior (Gutierrez / Eurton) will be in the hunt with the second highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and two hearty workouts. She relishes the Del Mar track and the distance. Expect her to track the pace closely.

#3 Kay Kay (A. Quinonez / Cerin) should be in the thick of it with a couple of decent last out speed numbers and four strong workouts. This gal is 100% in the money over the dirt and 83% in the money overall. She should be tracking ready to strike at the top of the stretch.

Stakes Saturday at the Spa

We take in the "mid-Summer Derby" for today's Stakes Saturday race.

Saratoga Race 11 {Travers~G1~1 1/4 mile~3 year-old~Graded Stakes}

A fantastic field of thirteen will go to the gate in this annual rite of summer. There is plenty of speed to keep the pace flowing. Speed numbers are fairly close with more than half the field stretching out to this distance. All seem to be in good form and have put in some exceptional workouts training up to this even. It should be a smokin' good race.

#8 Destin (Castellano / Pletcher) might have a very slight edge with the highest (three-way tie) last out speed number, a three race progression, and two fine workouts. This lad should be forwardly placed close to the pace. A son of Giant's Causeway. he has hit the board in his only effort at Saratoga.

#14 Gun Runner (Geroux / Asmussen) should challenge despite coming from the outside post. He holds a couple of excellent last out speed numbers and has put in three solid peaking workouts. This millionaire son of Candy Ride [ARG], has already hit the board at this distance. He should be tracking the pace closely ready to strike going into the stretch.

#1 Arrogate (Smith  / Baffert) should contend as an improving charge of high caliber connections. He holds the second highest (four-way tie) last out speed number and has put in two stamina producing works. This guy will embarking on his fourth win in a row. A son of Undbridled's Song, he should be part of the front running group.

Up North for Superfecta Sunday

An Oh Canada Superfecta Sunday in Toronto. We take in a super competitive classic Turf race up North of the border.

Woodbine Race 9 {Breeders Stakes~1 1/2 mile~TURF~3 year-old Up~Canadian Bred~ Stakes}

A fantastic field of eleven will hit the Canadian green in this classic distance Turf route.  There is plenty of speed and forwardly placed types to get the pace on. Speed numbers are very close giving any of these equine athletes a chance to walk into the winners circle. Our task is to knit together a winning 20 CENT Superfecta Box ticket.

#5 Conquest Daddyo (P. Husbands / Casse) might take advantage of a strong pace with the highest (tie) last out speed number, a three race progression, and one stout workout. This lad will be stretching out to this distance just like rest of the field. He loves the Woodbine course and the surface. He is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.

#7 Amis Gizmo (Contreras / J. Carroll) will challenge sharing the highest last out speed number, working a four race progression, and putting in two sound workouts. #8 Gotta Get Away (Da Silva / Pierce) should contend with the third highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and three superb workouts. He should be forwardly placed seeking to get first jump on the front running crew.

A Great Northwest Superfecta Sunday

On this Superfecta Sunday we journey up to the Northwest to take in a fantastic grade three mile race.

Emerald Downs Race 8 {Longacre Mile~G3~1 mile~3 year-old Up~Graded Stakes}

A tremendously talented group of eleven will go to the gate in this annual graded event. There is sufficient speed to make the pace roll quickly. Speed numbers are very close creating a highly competitive mile race. It should be a very exciting race. Our task is to hook together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket.

#8 Point Piper (M. Gutierrez / Hollendorfer) should have the edge with the highest last out speed number and four strong peaking workouts. This lad is coming out of a longer grade two route and the pace should set him up for a supreme closing run. He is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.

#1 Stryker Phd (Mawing / Ross) should be the home track favorite with a couple of good last out speed numbers and two speedy workouts. He will need the pace to launch his ferocious closing kick. This lad has an impressive 100% in the money record at the distance from eight starts.

#4 O B Harbor (Zunino / Markle) is another home track favorite with the second highest last out speed number a longer route and two high powered workouts. This guy loves his track and will be seeking his fifth win in a row.

#5 Alert Bay (T. Baze / Wright) comes up from Del Mar in attempt to take home some purse money. He holds the fourth highest (tie) last out speed number at a longer route and two superb peaking workouts. This millionaire has already hit the board in his only race over this track.

A Stakes Saturday Million

Off we go to the beautiful Turf of Arlington International. Today is the 34th running of the Arlington Million and promises to be the best race of this Stakes Saturday.

Arlington International Racecourse Race 9 {Arlington Million~G1~1 1/4 mile~TURF~3 year-old Up~Graded Stakes}

A bountiful field of twelve will take to the Arlington green in this annual race. There is enough speed and forwardly placed types to maintain an honest pace. Speed numbers are very, very close making it anyone's race to win. It arguably is the best race of the summer Turf season.

#9 Mondaliste [IRE] (Tudhope / O'Meara) might get a tremendous trip to secure the victory. He has raced really well across the pond in Great Britain showing a 70% overall in the money record. He will be coming down in distance for this race. A millionaire son of Galileo [IRE], he should set in for a nice tracking effort.
$2 WIN  /  $3 PLACE  /  $4 SHOW.

#12 Tryster [IRE] (Buick / Appleby) could go off as the favorite with a 78% overall in the money record racing in Great Britain and elsewhere overseas. He did put in a good workout over the Arlington polytrack. This son of Sharmadal should get a good set-up for his supreme closing kick.

#13 Deauville [IRE] (Heffernan / O'Brien) should contend having already captured a win at this distance racing at Belmont as well as having an overall in the money record of 72%. This lad has the tactical speed to stay close and launch a smooth quickening going into the stretch. Another son of Galileo [IRE], he has run a peaking workout at Arlington leading up to this race.

We begin our horse racing weekend on Furlong Friday taking in a vibrant Turf Sprint near the surf.

A great group of eight will hit the Turf in this feature race. There is plenty of speed to create a sizzling pace. Speed numbers are all very close making for a highly competitive event. It should be a terrific race.

#2 No Silent (Stevens / Mandella) could benefit from a hot pace as he should track the pace closely. He holds the fourth highest last out speed number, a five race progression, and four superb workouts. This guy could find his way into the winners circle with another improving performance.

Superfecta Sunday at Glorious Arlington International

Back at the home track we take in the last on the card over the Turf. Heading into Arlington Million week, it should be a good race.

Arlington International Race 7 {1 mile~TURF~3 year-old Up~Fillies/Mares~Maiden Claiming}

A solid group of gals will hit the green in this final race on the Sunday card. There is a little speed to keep the pace rolling. The danger here is allowing the speed to get loose on the lead as it happened yesterday. Speed numbers are fairly close which should produce a contested race. Our task is to paste up a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box card. It should be an exciting race as we head towards the famous Arlington Million this coming Saturday.

#1 Twilight Warrior (Santiago / Becker) might have the edge with the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and one stamina producing workout. This gal should be forwardly placed ready to strike. She is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.

#8 Call Me Courageous (Marquez / Young) should be the speed of the race and if she gets loose on the lead it will be "so long girls". She holds the third highest last out speed number as well as the second highest speed number over the Arlington Course. This will be her ninth attempt at breaking her maiden.

#6 Jazzi Maria (Felix / Domenosky) should take another step forward with the fourth highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and two salty peaking workouts. She should be tracking the pace ready to move smoothly through the stretch.

#9 Forever Royal (Murrill / Stidham) should contend with a 100% in the money record in her short three race career. This gal shows a couple of decent last out speed numbers and two sound workouts. She is another that should track the pace closely ready to rumble.

Stakes Saturday In Sunny California

There is no better combination than sunshine and horses. Today we take at a great Stakes race on the Turf.

Del Mar {La Jolla~G3~1 1/16 mile~TURF~3 year-old~Graded Stakes}

A very talented group of ten will take to the turf in this annual contest. There is enough speed to insure an honest pace. Speed numbers are fairly close reflection a serious competitiveness. There are four Triple Crown nominees in this race. It should be one of the better stakes races on the day.

#3 Moonlight Drive [ITY] (Prat / Baffert) looks to improve on the stretch out with the third highest (tie) last out speed number and three hearty workouts. This lad has earned the highest overall in the money record at 85% of this group. A son of Red Rocks [IRE], he should be tracking the pace ready to strike.
$2 WIN  /  $3 PLACE  /  $5 SHOW.

#2 Liam the Charmer (Gonzalez / McCarthy) should challenge with the fourth highest (tie) last out speed number at a longer route, a four race progression, and three salty workouts.
This guy will be going this distance for the first time. A son of Smart Strike, he should track and close gallantly.

#7 Burger and Fries [FR] (Van Dyke / Gallagher) will be making his first North American Start after racing competitively on French soil. He is coming out of a Group three in which he placed fifth at a much longer route. This distance should suit him just fine in his new California surroundings.
