Stakes Saturday at the "Spa"

 We look in on a terrific grade one going long on the Turf on Stakes Saturday.

Saratoga Race 11 {Saratoga Derby~G1~1 3/16 mile~TURF~3 year-old~Graded Stakes}

A reduced field of eight supremely talented horses will hit the green in this annual contest.

This race stacks up to be a very competitive event. Three will try the Saratoga course for the first time. All but two will stretch out to the distance for the first time. One will try the Turf for the first time. Speed numbers are very close. There will be some speed to keep the pace honest. It should be one of the best races of the day.

#4 Title Role [GB] (Velazquez / Crisford) should be forwardly placed as he stretches out to this distance. This guy will be seeking his third win in a row. He comes to the race with the highest (three-way tie) last out speed number and three super-charged workouts. A son of Too Darn Hot [GB], he is 100% in the money from five starts.

#3 Remember Mamba (J. Ortiz / DeVaux) will stretch out to the distance sharing the highest last out speed number. He has put in three vigorous workouts in preparation. This guy loves the Turf and the Saratoga course. A son of Kitten's Joy, he is 100% in the money from five starts.

#10 West End Kid (Prat / Walden) is another that shares the highest last out speed number. He adds to that, three consistent workouts. He will stretch out to the distance as he tracks the pace closely. A son of Twirling Candy, he is 80% in the money from five starts.

#1 Glavine (Caramouche / Morley) has improved his speed figures in each of his last three races. He will track the pace closely. This guy has put in two fine workouts as he stretches out to this distance. A son of Not This Time, he is 75% in the money from four starts.

#8 McCready (Santana / M. Robertson) has the tactical speed to adapt to whatever pace develops. He has a win at this exact distance. Three solid workouts add to his cause. He will be seeking his third win in a row having improved his speed figs in each of his last three races. A son of Practical Joke, he is 100% in the money from five starts.
