A Pleasant Winter Thursday

A mild January Thursday at Aqueduct to start off our horse racing weekend.

Aqueduct Race 8 {6 furlongs~inner dirt~4 year old Up~Optional Claiming}
An evenly matched group of eight will start in this sprint.  In terms of speed numbers all are reasonably close.  This will be anyone's race.

#3 Surprise Strike (L. Perez / Englehart) has the edge with the third highest (tie) last out speed number, a five race progression, and two solid workouts.  This gelding looks ready to run a great pressing race.
$2 SHOW.

#8 Wee Freudian (Dominguez / Schosberg) will present a significant challenge with the second highest last out speed number and three strong, peaking workouts.  This guy holds the second highest speed number over the Aqueduct course.
$2 SHOW.

Other Wagering Interests

#5 Galaxy Kat (Curatolo / Breen) looks ready for a good effort sharing the third highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and one peaking workout.  He could motor on the front end with others.

#4 Haystack Needle (Valdivia / Hushion) will be the speed in the race hoping to hold on for a piece of the purse.  He holds the fourth highest last out speed number, a four race progression, and three superb peaking workouts.  He can certainly be considered a contender.

Gulfstream R9.  Old Hat.  Our first pick, Sacristy, won (1st) for show money of $2.40.  Our second pick, Say A Novena, finished 2nd for show money of $2.80.
Superfecta went 4-2-5-8.
Bankroll rises to $14.00.

Happy New Year !!

Happy New Year to all.  May 2012 be a particularly profitable one for you!
Happy Birthday to our Equine heros.
We begin our three year old season today by taking in a sprint race at luxurious Gulfstream Park.

Gulfstream Park Race 9 {Old Hat~G3~6 furlongs~3 year old~fillies~Stakes}
An excellent field of eight will make their way to the gate.  There is a significant amount of speed in this race so it make give an edge to those coming off the pace.

#4 Sacristy (Desormeaux / Catalano) looks well prepped with the highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and three mighty, peaking workouts.  She could track the pace and make her move in the stretch.
$2 SHOW.

#2 Say A Novena (Trujillo / Plesa) will challenge with a pressing attack.  She holds the highest speed number at the distance and is coming off a route with three athletic workouts.  This gal should be a top contender.
$2 SHOW.

Other Wagering Interests

#8 Quick Flip (Maragh / Pompay) will share speed duties in this race with the second highest (tie) last out speed number, a three race progression, and one stout workout.  She will need to tamp down the pace to score her fourth victory in a row.

#6 Awesome Belle (Saez / Gold) is coming off a route with two bullet workouts.  She has the second highest speed number over the surface and is 100% in the money over fast dirt.  A steady pressing run could get her a piece in this one.

Santa Anita R8.  La Brea-G1.  Our first pick, Turbulent Descent, finished 6th.  Our second pick, May Day Rose, finished 8th.  Our third pick, California Nectar, finished 7th.
Superfecta went 9-6-7-1.
Bankroll gets pummelled and ends for the year at $12.90.
