The first big money stakes race where Kentucky Derby 139 hopefuls gather will be down in good old Louisiana. A fitting venue for Stakes Saturday.
Delta Downs Race 7 {Delta Downs Jackpot~G3~1 1/16 mile~2 year old~Stakes}
An exciting field of nine will make their way over the bullring style track. This three turn mile and sixteenth race will challenge both equine athlete and jockey alike. There is a good deal of speed mixed with the forwardly placed followed by the trackers/closers. it should be a very competitive race with any of these with the chance to notch a win.
#1 Bern Identity (Lopez / Breen) could go off as the favorite having already got a win over the track. He holds the second highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and one bullet workout. He has the tactical speed to stay close and then launch himself into the straight.
$2 SHOW.
#9 Goldencents (Krigger / O'Neill) should share front running duties if he can get a clean break from the outside post. He holds the third highest last out speed number and has put in two strong workouts. He should be in prime shape making his third career start.
$2 SHOW.
Other Wagering Interests
#3 Central Banker (Mena / Stall) will challenge with the fourth highest last out speed number at a sprint, a four race progression, and two sturdy workouts. He will be stretching out for this one and should be staying close to the leaders. His strike into the stretch should be a good one.
#6 Itsmyluckyday (Serpa / Plesa) should also be a contender with a win at this distance, a couple of decent last out speed numbers and three endurance producing workouts. This guy should be able to track comfortably and see how the race develops.
