We look toward old New Mexico for a Superfecta Sunday treat.
Sunland Park Race 11 {Sunland Park Derby~G3~1 1/8 mile~3 year old~Stakes}
A strong field of nine will make their way to the gate in this KD 140 prep race. There is a ton of speed in here that will insure that the pace will be very quick. Only three have gone this distance. The rest of the field will be stretching out. It should be a very interesting race for which we must try to cobble together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket.
#3 Commissioner (J. Velazquez / Pletcher) looks like he might be able to take advantage of a very swift pace with the third highest last out speed number and two athletic workouts. He could take up a tracking effort close to the pace and muscle his way through. This guy has secured two victories at this distance already. He is our Bronze Horseshoe runner.
$2 SHOW.
#7 Midnight Hawk (Smith / Baffert) should be the favorite with the second highest speed number, a two race progression, and three superb workouts. He has a bit of versatility to his running style which may help him in this speedster affair.
#4 Global Strike (Castellano / Pletcher) is another that has earned money at this distance. He holds a couple of decent last out speed numbers and has put in two hearty workouts. Expect him to be forwardly placed.
#8 Rebranded (Eikleberry / Evans) has already gone this distance. He holds a couple of o.k. last out speed numbers, a five race progression, and two sensational workouts. One of two that has run over the Sunland dirt, he hopes to please the hometown crowd with a tracking effort.
10 CENT Superfecta Box ($2.40)
#3 Commissioner + #7 Midnight Hawk + #4 Global Strike + #8 Rebranded.
