Stakes Saturday at Santa Anita

On this first day of Summer we take a look at a superb race in the golden land of California.

Santa Anita Race 8 {Summer Oaks~G2~1 1/16 mile~3 year old Up~fillies~Stakes}
A highly competitive group of eight fillies will make their start in this summer feature.  There is enough speed to keep a sound pace.  These gals are so tightly matched that any one of them could pull off the victory.  This race could be a horseplayers delight.

#6 Front Range (Talamo / Baffert) might have a tiny edge by virtue of posting the only win at this distance among this exceptional group.  She holds fourth highest (tie) last out speed number and has put in four hearty peaking workouts during a brief respite.  This daughter of Giant's Causeway should be tracking the pace ready to strike in the stretch.
$2 WIN  /  $3 SHOW.

#3 Arethusa (Smith / Harty) should challenge sharing the fourth highest last out speed number at a longer route and putting in two robust workouts during thirty days rest.  She should be charging hard with a decent pace.  As a daughter of A.P. Indy, she should have no worries with the distance.
$2 SHOW.

#7 Fleet of Gold (A. Solis / Hollendorfer) should contend with a couple of good last out speed numbers, coming off a much longer route and putting in four significant peaking workouts.  This daughter of Medaglia d'Oro should track the pace closely and impact the stretch run.
$2 SHOW.

Another Wagering Interest

#5 La Mejor Fiesta (Desormeaux / Ward) could surprise with a decent last out speed number at a longer route and one rigorous workout.  She is coming out of the Black Eyed Susan at Pimlico where the competition was just as keen.  This daughter of Harlan's Holiday could be ready to score.

#6 Front Range, #3 Arethusa  /  #6, #3  / #7 Fleet of Gold, #5 La Mejor Fiesta  /  #7, #5.
