Thursday, Turfday at Santa Anita

Going into the Belmont Stakes horse racing weekend, we take a look at a mile Turf race in Southern California.

Santa Anita Race 4 {1 mile~TURF~3 year old Up~fillies/mares~Optional Claiming}
A small field of six quality gals will go to the green in this feature race.  All are of considerable talent that have near equal speed numbers at the mile turf distance.  Any one of these ladies could pull off the victory.  There is plenty of speed to keep the pace swift.

#6 Unusual Hottie (Talamo / Mullins) might have the edge with the highest speed number at the distance, a couple of decent last out speed numbers and four strong workouts.  She may benefit from the swift pace with her tracking/closing running style.
$2 SHOW.

#5 Habibi [NZ] (Blanc / Blacker) will be coming off a long layoff, but should match up well with this group.  A winner of the New Zealand Derby, this gal has two wins from two starts at this distance.  She comes into this with three solid workouts.
$2 SHOW.

Other Wagering Interests

#2 Theatre Star (Van Dyke / Proctor) should challenge with the highest last out speed number, a six race progression, and four hearty workouts.  Expect this gal to be forwardly placed ready to pounce in the stretch.

#3 Redressthebalance [IRE] (Desormeaux / Pappaprodromou) could surprise with the third highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and two athletic workouts.  She should be able to sit right off the pace ready to strike.
