On this Superfecta Sunday we take a look at a premiere grade one Turf race along the Jersey shore.
Monmouth Park Race 12 {United Nations~G1~1 3/8 mile~TURF~3 year old Up~Stakes}
A highly competitive field of ten will take to the grass in this annual graded stakes race. There is hardly any speed which will lead to a Euro-style quickening coming into the stretch. The entire group has positive in the money records in their careers. What a wonderful race to take a stab at a 10 CENT Superfecta box.
#5 Main Sequence (Maragh / Motion) is coming off an extended layoff, but has done remarkably well after previous layoffs. He has some solid Racing Post ratings and has worked well prepping for his first start of 2014, putting in three laudable works. This lad, like many in her is capable of pulling off the victory.
#10 Side Glance [GB] (Spencer / Balding) comes from over the pond after competing at Ascot. He should not be discounted here. This fella has placed fourth two years in a row in the Dubai World Cup and placed third in the Arlington Million last year. World class jockey, Jaime Spencer is aboard which significantly adds to his chances. Though he has struggled in his Group One races overseas this year, he could surprise the odds-makers with a strong effort. He is our Bronze Horseshoe runner.
$2 SHOW.
#3 Twilight Eclipse (Lezcano / Albertrani) could be sent by the crafty trainer, Tom Albertrani. This fella is coming off a much longer two mile route and should be very comfortable in this spot. With a couple of decent last out efforts, a two race progression, and three superb workouts, he could wire the field.
#1 Charming Kitten (Bravo / Pletcher) should contend with the second highest last out speed number at a long two mile route and two sound workouts. This son of Kitten's Joy is coming off a win in that marathon race and should be tracking the pace with confidence.
10 CENT Superfecta Box ($2.40)
#5 Main Sequence + #10 Side Glance [GB] + #3 Twilight Eclipse + #1 Charming Kitten.
