A wonderful card of Stakes races at the Fair Grounds down in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Fair Grounds Race 10 {Louisiana Derby~G2~1 1/8 mile~3 year-old~Graded Stakes}
A talented group of ten Kentucky Derby aspirants will saunter up to the gate in this historic race. There is some speed to keep the pace rolling. All in here are Triple Crown nominees, but only one has gone this distance. Speed numbers are with digits of one another making for a highly competitive event. It should be the best race of the day.
#1 Gun Runner (Geroux / Asmussen) should take another step forward on the KD trail. He holds the highest (tie) last out speed number, a two race progression, and four superb peaking workouts. This guy should track the pace and launch quickly into the stretch. A son of Candy Ride [ARG], he has already won over the track.
$1 WIN / $2 PLACE / $3 SHOW.
#3 Battery (Castellano / Pletcher) is another that should show improvement as the only one to run and win at this distance. He holds a couple of decent last out speed numbers, a two race progression, and three stout workouts. A son of Bernardini, he should be close to the pace seeking to make his move.
$1 PLACE / $2 SHOW.
#5 Candy My Boy (Torres / Bruggemann) should challenge with the third highest last out speed number, a five race progression, and three dynamite peaking workouts. He loves the Fair Grounds track and will be seeking his third victory over it. Another son of Candy Ride [ARG], he should be the speed of the race looking for a wire job.
$1 SHOW.
Another Wagering Interest
#6 Mo Tom (Lanerie / Amoss) will contend with the second highest last out speed number and two hearty workouts. This guy is 100% in the money from six career starts. A son of Uncle Mo, he should close gallantly with the right pace up front.
