On this Stakes Saturday we take in a nice race along the Jersey shore. Summer is made for horse racing though sometimes the fields are not as robust.
Monmouth Park Race 9 {Irish War Cry Handicap~1 mile~3 year-old Up~NJ~Stakes}
A reduced field of six as this one comes off the Turf. These reliable lads will go a mile on the main track. Two thirds of the field is composed of speedsters which might benefit the off the pace two. Speed numbers are fairly close making it a competitive event despite the short field. It should be a great race on this last weekend in July.
#8 Golden Brown (P. Lopez / McBurney) should go off as the deserved favorite with the third highest last out speed number and two solid workouts. He does hold the highest speed number at the distance. A son of Offlee Wild, he should be running close to the pace and spring into the stretch in good position. This guy is 58% in the money from twenty-one career starts.
$1 WIN / $2 PLACE / $3 SHOW.
#5 Premdini (Diaz / Carvajal) will challenge coming off a dirt sprint in which scored the highest last out speed number among this field. He has posted one peaking workout anticipating this third race of his form cycle. A son of Dance with Ravens, he should be part of the pace team. This lad is 70% in the money from twenty career starts.
