Arlington Million at Churchill Downs

 Though we miss Arlington Park, we are happy to handicap the Arlington Million at Churchill Downs on this Stakes Saturday.

A reduced field of eight will jog onto the new Churchill Turf course in this very special race.

Despite the defection of a speedy type this race should still have a solid pace. Speed figures are very close making it competitive. There are two millionaires among this field as well as two that are on the cusp of becoming millionaires. All have raced at Churchill though with the indefinite closing of the new course in late Spring, only five have raced over it. It should be quite exciting on a day of many great races here in North America.

#4 Smooth Like Strait (J. Velazquez / McCarthy) should be involved in the pace scenario on the front end. This guy comes in with the highest last out speed number and three superb peaking workouts. #2 Sacred Life [FR] (M. Franco / C. Brown) should contend with the fourth highest last out speed number and four stout workouts. He should track and close mightily into a fast pace. #3 Field Pass (R. Gutierrez / Maker) should be in the mix sharing the third highest last out speed number and two hearty workouts. He is another that should track the pace closely ready to strike in the stretch. He relishes the surface and distance.
