Canadian Stakes for the Ladies

 We go North of the Border to take in a fine Stakes race on the Turf for the ladies.

Woodbine Race 9 {Canadian Stakes~G2~1 1/8 mile~3 year-old Up~Fillies/Mares~Graded Stakes}

A reduced field of eight will hit the grass in this annual affair.

This race comes up a little light on speed. Speed numbers are fairly close. Half the field have raced over the Woodbine course. Only one will be stretching out to this distance. All have had success over the Turf. It should be a great race for out Stakes Saturday.

#3 Full Count Felicia (R. Hernandez / K. Attard) has the tactical speed to stay in the hunt form the opening gate. She holds the second highest last out speed number and three strong workouts. #8 Star Fortress [IRE] (J. Ortiz / DeVaux) will pose a mighty challenge coming out of a grade one at a longer distance. She holds the highest speed number at this distance and has put in three superb workouts. Look for her to track and close into whatever pace develops. A daughter of Sea the Stars [IRE], she is 46% in the money from thirteen starts.

#5 Elysian Field (Civaci / M. Casse) should be forwardly placed ready to strike. She has won both of her starts at this distance. One decent workout should keep her sharp. This gal hit the board in her only start over the Woodbine course. A daughter of Hard Spun, she is 72% in the money from eleven starts.
