 On this Superfecta Sunday we go to the great Northwest for some great stakes action.

Emerald Downs Race 9 {Longacres Mile~1 mile~3 year-old Up~Stakes}

A talented field of ten will go to the gate in this annual event.

There is plenty of speed to light up the pace. Speed numbers are fairly close. The invaders include two from the North in Canada and one from Southern California. All but these three have competed over the Emerald Downs track. Everyone of the field have competed successfully over the distance. It should be a prime race on an exceptional card.

#1 Arrowthegreat (Americano / Blacker) comes up from Del Mar to battle this erstwhile group. He has the tactical speed to adapt to the pace. This gelding holds the highest last out speed number and two superb workouts. He relishes the dirt and distance. It will be his first try over the Emerald dirt. A son of Arrogate, he is 58% in the money from seventeen starts.

#10 Apprehend (A. Perez / Heads) will challenge with the fourth highest last out speed number at a longer route and one dynamite workout. He comes in from Century Mile. Look for him to be forwardly placed. This guy excels over the dirt and distance. He is looking for his sixth win in a row. Another son of Arrogate, he is 73% in the money from fifteen starts.

#8 Slews Tiz Whiz (Couton / Wenzel) is the morning line favorite and deservedly so. He comes to the race with the third highest last out speed number and a bullet workout. This guy dominated the dirt, distance, and Emerald Downs track. Look for him to track the pace and explode into the stretch. A son of Slew's Tiznow, he is 77% in the money from twenty-seven starts.

#2 What a Dude (J. Gutierrez / M. Hernandez) should be battling on the front-end with the second highest last out speed number and one sound workout. He will be trying to make it four wins in a row. This lad loves the Emerald Downs track winning three of four races over it. A son of Hard Spun, he is 55% in the money from twenty-nine starts.
