Another Wonderful Stakes Saturday as we look at the United Nations at Monmouth Park.
Monmouth Park Race 10 {United Nations~G1~1 3/8 mile~Turf~3 year old Up~Stakes}
This will have an extremely exciting and supremely competitive field of nine. Equal parts of speed, forwardly placed and closers will race making it a fabulous race to watch. One could make a case for any in here to pull off the victory. Cinchon [IRE] (Gomez / Laffon) could be the surprise winner. He raced well in his only North American start against the great Gio Ponte at Belmont last year. He has also raced well in France. He will be forwardly placed and ready to pounce in the stretch. Winchester (C. Velasquez / Clement) looks fine tuned for a potential victory with the highest (tie) last out speed number, a 100% in the money record at the distance, a two race progression, and one strong work out. Telling (Coa / Hobby) has raced successfully at longer distances. He looks ready coming off a longer Turf route, a two race progression, and three teriffic, peaking workouts. Take the Points (Prado / Pletcher) will be in the mix at the finish with the second highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and two robust workouts. Jeune-Turc [BRZ] (Lezcano / Lobo) may be the unknown quantity in the race making his first start in the USA. He has raced at longer Turf routes and according to the DRF notes has finished fast. Jeune-Turc [BRZ] has also put in three very athletic workouts. Let's play Monmouth Park.
