We close out our horse racing weekend with a look at a splendid Turf race at Del Mar. Let's have some fun in the Sun and Turf. Nothing better!
Yesterday was a great Arlington Million Day. Lots of great competitors and awesome races. You gotta love it when a wall of horses comes around the final turn battling for the win. Heartpounding fun. It seemed many of the Turf races were run Euro-style. Slow early fractions leading to terrific closings to the wire. WOW!!
Now on to our Sunday race.
Del Mar Race 7 {1 1/16~Turf~3 year old Up~CA bred~Optional Claiming}
An evenly matched field of ten lovely horses will saddle up for this race on the green. All should be capable of holding their own at this distance. A solid pace should be formed based on the running styles entered. It will be an exciting race.
#10 Gab Power (Rosario / Eurton) looks much the best with the highest last out speed number, a four race progression, and two robust workouts. He should be offered a pace to close into brillantly.
$2 WIN / $3 SHOW.
#1 Minister d'Oro (Gomez / P. Miller) looks well, er, golden. With the second highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and two athletic workouts, he will also close nicely into the pace set by the forwardly placed.
$2 SHOW.
Other Wagering Interests
#2 Lodi Red (Blanc / McCarthy) should be ready off a reasonable layoff. He holds the fourth highest (tie) last out speed number, a two race progression prior to the layoff, and four strong workouts. He could surprise with the second highest speed number at the distance. He should track the pace diligently.
#6 Prince of Gotham (Pedroza / Harty) will be coming off an extensive layoff, but trainer Eoin Harty has a 36% win record with long layoffs therefore we can't count this guy out. He has trained well with two vibrant workouts. Look for him to track the pace hoping to get a jump on the closers.
10 CENT Superfecta
#10 Gab Power / #1 Minister d'Oro / #2 Lodi Red / #6 Prince of Gotham.
