Thursday, Turfday at Santa Anita

We start out our horse racing weekend with a competitive Turf battle in Southern California.

Santa Anita Race 8 {1 mile~TURF~3 year old Up~fillies/mares~Maiden Special Weight}
A great group of nine Turf gals will line up to seek their first victory.  This is a uniquely comparable group with any one of these gals capable of the win.  There are a few that like to be forwardly placed which may cause a plodding pace.  It should be a great mile Turf contest.

#2 Star Act (Stevens / Proctor) might have the edge with the third highest (tie) last out speed number and four superb workouts.  This gal could be on the cusp of a breakout race having already hit the board three times from three starts at this distance.  She could be tracking the pace closely and pounce in the stretch.
$2 SHOW.

#6 Kadesha [FR] (Desormeaux / Hess) is a first time starter that has strung together a great workout tab of four superlative, peaking works.  She is the daughter of Azamour [IRE] out of the Kadina [IRE] mare.
$2 SHOW.

Other Wagering Interests

#3 Burning Arch (Smith / Hollendorfer) should challenge stretching out in her second start.  She holds the second highest last out speed number and three hearty workouts.  She should be able to close well into a solid pace.

#1 Serene Melody (Gryder / Shirreffs) will contend with the highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and three robust workouts.  She should be forwardly placed and attempt to control that pace to her advantage.

#7 Sweet as a Rose (Nakatani / Gallagher) could be in the hunt sharing the third highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and three stout workouts.  She has the tactical speed to stay with the leaders and launch into the stretch.

10 CENT Superfecta

#2 Star Act  /  #6 Kadesha [FR]  /  #3 Burning Arch  /  #1 Serene Melody, #7 Sweet as a Rose.
