Stakes Saturday in Keeneland Spring

Hopefully the weather will be a little better in Lexington, Kentucky for our Stakes Saturday. We look in on the Bluegrass, another Derby prep. The Kentucky Derby less than a month away.

Keeneland Race 10 {Toyota Bluegrass~G1~1 1/8 mile~3 year old~Stakes}
A great field of eight will make the start in this annual Derby prep. There is some speed to keep the pace rolling. Only one in here has gone this distance, but all are capable of making it. All are Triple Crown nominees, except one. The speed numbers are fairly close. Perhaps it will be the most exciting derby prep race of the three going off today.

#5 Carpe Diem (J. Velazquez / Pletcher) is the most favored to win this one. He will be making his second start of the year in anticipation of the Kentucky Derby where he has already accumulated enough points to secure a gate.  Coming into this race he holds the second highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and has put in two robust workouts. This son of Giant's Causeway has the tactical speed to feel out the pace and explode into the stretch.
$1 WIN  /  $2 SHOW.

#7 Classy Class (Alvarado / McLaughlin) will attempt to challenge as the most likely speed of the race. He holds the fourth highest last out speed number and has put in two solid workouts. This son of Discreetly Mine is coming down from Aqueduct in good form. He is the only one that has gone this distance.
$1 PLACE  /  $1 SHOW.

#1 Ocho Ocho Ocho (Gonzalez / Cassidy) should contend with the highest speed number over a dirt surface and two superb workouts. He should be forwardly placed ready to roll.  This son of Kentucky Derby winner (2007), Street Sense, is coming out of a race at Santa Anita where he faced some very tough competitors, including the favorite in today's Santa Anita Derby, Dortmund. This classy colt should get his due.
$1 SHOW.

Other Wagering Interests

#6 Frammento (Stevens / Zito) should be in the chase with a couple improving speed numbers, a two race progression, and three hearty workouts. This son of Midshipman will be rolling late seeking to get a piece of the purse pie. Of the group, he does have the third highest speed number over the dirt.

#8 Danzig Moon (Leparoux / Casse) should show improvement in his third start of the year. He holds a couple of decent last out speed numbers and two dynamite peaking workouts. This son of Malibu Moon is one of four in this event that have covered Keeneland's new dirt surface.
