Off to a slow start out of the gate for this horse racing weekend. Today we take a look at a nice claiming race out where the "Surf Meets the Turf".
Del Mar Thoroughbred Club Race 2 {6 furlongs~3 year-old Up~Claiming}
A good group of claimers will take to the dirt in this early race. There is a sufficient amount of speed to keep a sensible pace. Speed numbers are incredibly close making for a competitive race.
#2 No Contingency (Maldonado / Bonde) looks to have the edge with the highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and two solid workouts. This lad should take up the front end seeking to wire this field. He holds the third highest (tie) speed number at the distance along with a 66% in the money record from twelve starts.
$2 SHOW.
#4 Justification (Graham / Carava) should challenge with a confidence building win last out at Albuquerque Downs. He comes into this off a brief freshening all the while putting in four superb peaking workouts. This lad holds the fourth highest speed number at the distance. He should take great advantage of any heat on the pace by closing gallantly.
$2 SHOW.
