Tampa Bay Downs Race 8 {Pasco Stakes~7 Furlongs~3 year-old~Stakes}
A reduced field of eight will go to the gate in this annual sprint contest. There is decent speed to warrant a swift pace. Speed numbers are very close giving it a competitive feel. All will be firing fresh with layoffs of a variety of durations. This is a good field of horses prepping for the bigger Stakes races as the season moves forward.
#8 Awaken (Morales / Hamm) might have a slight edge with a couple of good last out speed numbers, his last out being a route. Couple that first place performance with four excellent workouts and you have a willing an able horse to cart off the victory. A son of Derby winner, Super Saver, he should be forwardly placed where all the action should take place.
$1 WIN / $2 PLACE / $3 SHOW.
#7 World of Trouble (Gallardo / Ja. Servis) will challenge on the front end with the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and two sharp peaking workouts. This lad is the only one to race and hit the board at this distance. He is coming off a modest layoff. A son of Kantharos, he is coming in from Gulfstream Park with a 100% in the money record from two career starts.
$1 PLACE / $2 SHOW.
#1 He Hate Me (Franco / DePaz) should be in the hunt despite coming off an extended layoff. He has already secured two wins from two career starts. Ready to rock, he has put in four superior workouts. A son of Algorithms, he should track the pace and will strike in the stretch.
$1 SHOW.
#4 Arazi Like Move (Spieth / Gonzalez) will be in the hunt particularly with a swift pace. He holds the third highest (tie) last out speed number, a four race progression, and one stout workout. This lad is one of two that have already traveled the Tampa Bay track with success. A son of Graydar, he should track and close gallantly.
