Gulfstream Park Race 14 {Xpress Bet Fountain of Youth~G2~1 1/16 mile~3 year-old~Graded Stakes}
Another great crew of Derby aspirants will line up in this annual prep. There is sufficient speed to keep a strong pace on. Speed numbers are fairly close making this a super competitive event. It should be another exciting KD 144 prep race and one of the best races on this Stakes Saturday.
#6 Good Magic (J. Ortiz / C. Brown) is last year's 2 year-old champ making his season debut. The only millionaire in the bunch, he holds the highest last out speed number (prior to a modest layoff), a three race progression, and four outstanding peaking workouts. This son of Curlin has been well prepped by his connections. Sure to be overwhelming favorite we will make a token win wager on him.
$1 WIN.
#4 Strike Power (L. Saez / Hennig) will be stretching out, striving to make his third win in a row. He holds the second highest last out speed number and two solid peaking workouts. This guy has won those two over the Gulfstream track in his only career starts. A son of Speightstown, he will be part of the speedsters on the front end.
$1 PLACE / $2 SHOW.
#8 Marconi (Castellano / Pletcher) will be cutting back in distance for this one after achieving a 100% in the money record from three career starts. He holds the fourth highest (tie) last out speed number, a three race progression, and two sound workouts. A son of Tapit, he will be closing gallantly.
$1 SHOW.
#10 Promises Fulfilled (I. Ortiz / Romans) should challenge with a couple of decent last out speed numbers as he continues to improve. This lad has already hit the board at this distance and has put in a high charged four workout tab in preparation for his first 2018 start. A son of Shakleford, he should be part of the speed crew.
