Santa Anita Park Race 8 {Santa Ana~G2~1 1/8 mile~TURF~4 year-old Up~Fillies/Mares~Graded Stakes}
A reduced field of eight will strut to the gate in this annual affair. There is enough speed to create a decent pace. Speed numbers are very close making this any gal's race. the race becomes even more intriguing as the sole scratch, #2 Fault won the Santa Margarita yesterday. This running of the Santa Ana should not only be exciting, but profitable for the horseplayer. Our task is to knit together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket.
#1 Madam Dancealot [IRE] (Nakatani / Baltas) might have a slight edge with the second highest last out speed number and three quality peaking workouts. She loves the Turf and sports a 100% in the money record at this distance from two efforts. A daughter of Sir Prancealot [IRE], she should track and close gracefully.
#8 Midnight Crossing [IRE] (Blanc / Baltas) comes back from a little foray on the Gulfstream Park Turf. She holds the fourth highest last out speed number and three hearty peaking workouts. This gal has already won over the Santa Anita course in her only effort. A daughter of Dark Angel [IRE], she could be forwardly placed ready to strike in the stretch. She is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.
$4 SHOW.
#3 Laseen [IRE] (Desormeaux / Cassidy) will challenge with the third highest (3-way tie) last out speed number at a longer route and one quality workout. She enjoys the distance, having hit the board in all four attempts, and the Santa Anita course. A daughter of Dylan Thomas [IRE], she is another that will track and close swiftly.
#9 Sassy Little Lila (Prat / Mandella) has the capability of wiring this field if left loose on the lead. She holds the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and three strong peaking workouts. This daughter of Artie Schiller relishes the distance and the Santa Anita course.
