A beautiful day down in Houston, Texas as we take in a classic Turf contest on this Superfecta Sunday.
Sam Houston Race Park Race 8 {John B. Connally Turf Cup~G3~1 1/2 mile~TURF~4 year-old Up~Graded Stakes}
A good field of nine will take to the grass in this annual event. There is a little speed which should force the trackers closer to the pace. Speed numbers are fairly close making it a somewhat competitive event. Two millionaires make their appearance seeking to add to their treasure. Our task is to cobble together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket.
#4 Bigger Picture (J. Ortiz / Maker) should be the odds on favorite with the highest last out speed number and three stout workouts. He has already scored two victories over this course from two tries. A son of Badge of Silver, he is exceptional at this distance holding a 72% in the money record from eleven starts.
#3 Lawless West (E. Martin / Offolter) could surprise with the fourth highest last out speed number and two hearty workouts. He loves the Turf and this course. A son of Giant's Causeway, he should be forwardly placed looking to get first run at the leader. He might relish the stretch out in distance. He is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.
$2 SHOW.
#8 Markitoff (Smith / Maker) should challenge with the second highest (tie) last out speed number and three superb workouts. He is another that should enjoy the stretch out in distance. Another son of Giant's Causeway, he should be tracking the pace with a bunch of others.
#9 Cooptado [ARG] (G. Saez / Morley) should contend with the third highest speed number at the distance and one efficient workout. He does have six career wins entering into this contest. A millionaire son of Equal Stripes [ARG], he should be tracking and closing into a solid pace.
10 CENT Superfecta Box ($2.40)
#4 Bigger Picture + #3 Lawless West + #8 Markitoff + #9 Cooptado [ARG].
