Graded Stakes Action in Kentucky

 On this Stakes Saturday we take in an excellent graded stakes race in Kentucky.

Churchill Downs Race 11 {Kentucky Jockey Club~G2~1 1/16 mile~2 year-old~Graded Stakes}

A nice field of nine youngsters will go this route as they look to hit the Kentucky Derby trail next year.

There is enough speed among this group to keep the pace rolling. Speed numbers are especially close making it super competitive. All but two have gone this distance. It should be a very exciting race.

#4 Keepmeinmind (Cohen / Diodoro) looks well intentioned as the morning line favorite with the highest last out speed number and two diligent workouts. This lad should take up a tracking position and close efficiently. A son of Laoban, is 100% in the money from three career starts.

#2 Swill (Geroux / B. Cox) will be stretching out to this distance and certainly be part of the pace scenario. He holds the second highest last out speed number and four superb workouts. He has already posted a victory over the Churchill track. A son of Munnings, he is 66% in the money from three career starts.

#6 Oncoming Train (Bejarano / DiVito) should challenge with the third highest (tie) last out speed number and three stout workouts. He should be in a tracking position as they run around the track. A son of Mineshaft, he is also 100% in the money from two career starts.

#1 Sittin On Go (Lanerie / Romans) / #1A Smiley Sobotka (Leparoux / Romans) are coupled entries that can be expected to contend. Both have solid last out speed numbers and strong workouts. Both are sons of Brody's Cause.  "Sittin" has a win record of 66% from three careers starts and "Smiley" has a 100% in the money record from two starts.

#3 Arabian Prince (Gaffalione / D. Stewart) should be in the mix with improving speed figures over his two career races. This guy is coming in fresh and ready with three sound workouts. Expect him to close gallantly into a swift pace. A son of Mshawish, he has one of his two career races.

Churchill Downs R9.  Chilukki Stakes--G3.  Our first pick, Gold Standard, finished 4th.  Our second pick, Whoa Nellie, finished 3rd for show money of $4.20.  Our third pick, Unique Factor, finished off the board.

We flubbed our Exacta Wheel Effort.
