"The Summer Derby" on Stakes Saturday

 We journey to the "Spa" for one of the best races of the Summer.

Saratoga Race 13 {TRAVERS~G1~1 1/4 mile~3 year-old~Graded Stakes}

A great group of ten will hit the dirt in this annual classic race.

There is enough speed in this race to create a hot pace. Speed numbers are fairly close with only three having hit a triple digit Beyer speed fig. All are well prepped for this contest. Half the field has gone this distance; the other half will stretch out for the first time. Six have raced over the Saratoga track. It should be a fantastic race on a great Stakes Saturday of racing.

#9 Golden Tempo (J. Ortiz / DeVaux) is the deserved favorite coming off his Belmont Derby win. He holds the fourth highest (tie) last out speed number and four superb workouts. The Kentucky Derby winner has hit the board in all three of his races at this distance. He will be seeking his third win in a row. Look for him to close gallantly. A millionaire so of Curlin, he is 100% in the money from six starts.

#2 Leading Change (M. Franco / B. Cox) will be making his third start in his form cycle seeking his third win in a row. He will stretch out while sitting right off the leaders. This guy has prepped with four powerful workouts and is primed to run a big race. A son of Gun Runner, he has a win rate of 100% from two starts.

#7 Sea Strike (Prat / C. Brown) will stretch out to the distance while holding the highest last out speed number and two fine workouts. He has a win over the Saratoga track. This lad should track the pace closely and strike in the stretch. A son of Midshipman, he holds a 66% win rate from three starts.
