Stakes Saturday on the Big "A" Turf

A beautiful Fall Stakes Saturday unfurls today. We take a look at a super competitive graded Turf contest at the Big "A".

Aqueduct Race 7 {Red Smith Handicap~G3~1 3/8 mile~TURF~3 year-old Up~Graded Stakes}

A great crew of eight talented turfers will hit the Aqueduct green in this feature race. There is sufficient speed to maintain an honest pace. Speed numbers are fairly close making it a highly competitive event. It should be one of the best races on a beautiful Fall day.

#6 Kaigun (Rosario / Casse) might have the edge with the highest last out speed number at a longer Turf route, a three race progression, and two robust workouts. This millionaire should be tracking the pace closely ready to roll. This son of Northern Afleet is coming down from Woodbine.

#3 War Dancer (Lezcano / Mott) should challenge with the third highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and three superb peaking workouts. This lad should be forwardly placed seeking to get first jump on the leaders going into the stretch. This son of War Front holds the highest speed number at the distance along with a 100% in the money record at same.

#9 Mr. Maybe (I. Ortiz / C. Brown) will contend with the second highest last out speed number, a five race progression, and three strong workouts. This son of Ghostzapper has a win at this distance.  He should be tracking and closing valiantly.

#10 Charming Kitten (J. Velazquez / Pletcher) should be in the mix with a couple of decent last out speed numbers, a two race progression, and two stout workouts. He has handled this distance hitting the third highest (tie) speed number at it. This son of Kitten's Joy will be tracking the pace diligently.

Furlong Friday at Aqueduct

This week we begin our horse racing weekend on Furlong Friday taking in a race for the youngsters.

Aqueduct Race 5 {6 1/2 Furlongs~2 year-old`Fillies~Maiden Claiming}

A group of seven (two scratches this morning) youngsters will head to the gate in this mid-card race. All are just getting their racing careers started. The field includes a couple of first time starters. Speed numbers in the few starts that have been made are relatively close. There is one that has an indication of some speed and could be dangerous if left on the lead. It should be a fascinating race.

#8 Mary Pray for Us (A. Castellano / Miceli) might be able to stand out from this group making her third start. She shares the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and two speedy peaking workouts. She could track them down and push through in the stretch.

#3 Love You Babe (Gomez / B. Brown) should challenge sharing the highest last out speed number at a Turf route. She will be making her first start on the dirt. Her two workouts were good. This gal may be closing well with the right pace.

#4 The Name's Paddy (Lezcano / Parisella) is making her first start with tremendous connections. She has put in four superb workout in preparation. This daughter of Paddy O'Prado will no doubt contend with this group.

#6 Punch It (Carmouche / Quartarolo) should be in the mix with the second highest last out speed number at a longer sprint and four fantastic peaking workouts. This gal looks ready to rumble in her second start.

Superfecta Sunday down in Kentucky

We enter Superfecta Sunday with some hope that the sun will shine down on our selections to get them motored toward the wire. Today we take in a mile Turf contest in glorious Kentucky.

Churchill Downs Race 9 {1 mile~TURF~3 year-old Up~Allowance Optional Claiming}

A great group of ten battle hardened Turf veterans will take to the Churchill green in this late card feature. Speed numbers are very close, reflecting a tremendously competitive event. There is plenty of speed in this one as well.  Our task is to string together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket.

#6 Saffron Hall (Albarado / Maker) is coming back from a close to a year layoff where he was last seen winning three in a row. He comes back with the best in the money record of 73% among this group. Coupled with three superb workouts, he appears ready to come back to his winning ways. He should be part of the front running crew.

#2 Patrioticandproud (Bridgmohan / Casse) will challenge with a couple of good last out speed numbers and two strong workouts. He is coming off a longer route in a graded stakes event. This guy should be forwardly placed seeking to get first jump on the leader. He has a 50% in the money record over the Turf from ten starts. This lad will be our Bronze Horseshoe selection.
$2 SHOW.

#3 Gabriels Cat (Goncalves / Samer) should contend with the second highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and one stout workout. He should find his way behind the leaders seeking to strike in the stretch. This guy relishes the distance and the Churchill course.

#7 Sportscaster (Mena / Romans) might well be in the mix with a couple of decent last out speed numbers and one robust workout. He is coming off a longer route and should be forwardly placed for this Turf mile. Again, he is another that loves the distance as well as the Churchill grass.

Stakes Saturday on Turf

The lull after the 2015 Breeder's Cup Championships does have a few great stakes races. On this Stakes Saturday we look at a classic Turf distance for the ladies.

Aqueduct Race 8 {Long Island Handicap~G3~1 1/2 mile~TURF~3 year-old Up~fillies/mares~Graded Stakes}

An extremely talented bunch of gals will hit the grass in this feature race. There is enough speed to keep an honest pace. Many in here will be stretching out to this classic distance for the first time. The speed numbers are relatively close with many on the improvement arc.
It should be one of the best races of the day.

#8 Mutalis Mutandis [IRE] (J. Velazquez / Walker) will be making her second North American start after successfully racing across the pond. She holds the fourth highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and three strong workouts. This daughter of Mastercraftsman [IRE] should be tracking the pace closely ready to strike.

#5 Gotachancetodance (L. Saez / Pletcher) should challenge as she stretches out to this distance. She holds two good last out speed numbers, a six race progression, and two solid workouts. This gal continues to improve with each effort and should continue that trend. A daughter of English Channel, she is another that will be tracking the pace ready to roll.

#3 Danza Cavallo [FR] (J. Ortiz / C. Brown) could go off as the favorite with the second highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and three robust workouts. She has an 83% in the money record at this distance from six starts. This daughter of Sunday Break [JPN] should be forwardly placed for a first jump on the field.

She is coming off a modest workout having last been seen winning the Modesty at Arlington International. This daughter of Tapit will be tracking and closing gracefully.

Furlong Friday in Oklahoma City

A wonderful Fall Friday as we take a look at an evening race in Oklahoma City.

Remington Park Race 7 {Clever Trevor Stakes~7 furlongs~2 year-old~Stakes}

A very talented group of eight will go to the gate in this late night feature. There is an abundance of speed which should make for a heated pace. Speed figures are very close which will add to the races competitiveness. It should be a smashing good race.

#7 Whence (Cruz / Asmussen) might have the advantage with the second highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and three superb workouts. This lad will be making his fourth career start. He should take up a pressing attack close to the pace and then spring forward into the stretch.

#5 Texas Chrome (Parker / Stuart) should challenge with the fourth highest last out speed number. He is 100% in the money from five career starts. This guy loves the surface and will be stretching out a little bit more for this sprint.

#1 Bavura (Berry / Calhoun) should be the favorite with the highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and two top notch workouts. He is another with a 100% in the money record from three starts. He could be part of a speed duet on the front end.

#2 Suddenbreakingnews (Quinonez / Von Hemel) will contend with the third highest (tie) last out speed number, a three race progression, and two speedy workouts. He has the tactical speed to stay the course depending on the pace that develops. His successful experience over the Remington track will aid his effort.

Horse Racing Weekend Begins at the Big "A"

On this Thursday, we start our horse racing weekend at the Big "A" for a nice maiden Turf race.

Aqueduct Race 6 {1 mile~TURF~3 year-old Up~fillies/mares~Maiden Special Weight}

A fine group of nine maidens will take to the grass in this Turf route. There is little speed showing among these girls. Speed numbers are comparable which should make it any gals race. It should be a great start to our Horse Racing Weekend.

#2 Kodiva [IRE] (Carmouche / Sheppard) might have the edge with a couple of decent last out speed numbers and one solid workout. She is 83% in the money from six starts. Her runs at this distance occurred across the pond in which she acquitted herself well. This gal should be tracking the pace closely ready to strike going into the stretch.

#1A Aimone (Cancel / Contessa) should challenge with the second highest last out speed number at a longer route, a three race progression, and one strong workout. She should set-up nicely for a good close.

#4 Mayas Queen Neetee (Lezcano / Dilger) will be making her first start and should have an impact on this race. Her connections are strong and she has put in two great peaking workouts.

Superfecta Sunday in Sunny Florida

Another Breeder's Cup Championships is in the books. What a fantastic two days of racing it was. More great racing is yet to be seen. On this first day of November we take a look at a splendid Turf race down in sunny Florida.

Gulfstream Park West {1 1/16 mile~TURF~3 year-old Up~Allowance}

A fine group of seven will hit the green in this feature Turf battle. There is enough speed to maintain an honest pace giving all entrants a chance at victory. Speed numbers are relatively close. It is a great mix of runners with hopes of improvement on the Turf. Our task is to string together a winning group of runners for our 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket.

#5 Sublime Appeal (Gonzales / Rizo) has the most upside potential coming off a maiden win. This colt shares the third highest (3-way tie) last out speed number, is working a two race progression, and has put in one solid workout. He is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.
$1 SHOW.

#7 Minecraft (Caraballo / Nagle) is seeking his third win in a row sharing that third highest last out speed number. This lad has already notched a win over the Gulfstream Park West course and has the third highest overall in the money record at 60%. With a proper pace he will be closing gallantly.

#3 Black Martino (Gaffalione / Garaffalo) should challenge with the highest last out speed number and a three race progression. This guy should be forwardly placed ready to spring into the stretch. He holds a solid in the money record overall, over the surface and at the distance.

#6 Snow Trouble (Zayas / Pletcher) is on the improve with the second highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and two peaking bullet workouts. This son of Tapit has already hit the board at Gulfstream Park West. Expect him to be forwardly placed ready to roll.

Superfecta went 11-3-6-2. We captured only two in our 10 CENT Superfecta Box ticket.
