On the eve of the Florida Derby we take a look at the Gulfstream Oaks at Gulfstream Park.
Gulfstream Park Race 11 {Gulfstream Oaks~G2~1 1/8 mile~3 year old~fillies}
The 41st running of this race will feature a field of seven. There will be a wholesome pace among these talented fillies. Only two have gone the distance, although on the Turf. It appears to be a race between two favorites with the rest fighting for the third place purse money.
#5 R Heat Lightning (J. Velazquez / Pletcher) This well managed filly by trainer Todd Pletcher will be the one to beat. She is head and shoulders above the rest with the highest last out speed number and three robust, peaking workouts. She should close well for the victory.
$1 WIN.
#7 It's Tricky (A. Garcia / McLaughlin) will be the top challenger with a perfect three win record, the second highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and three athletic, peaking workouts. She will press the pace and should get first jump heading for the wire.
$1 PLACE / SHOW.
#4 Beso Grande (Lezcano / DiMauro) has the edge for the show money. She will be moving up in distance with the third highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and the best workout tab of five superb, peaking workouts.
$2 SHOW.
