The Thrilling Florida Derby

On the last day of our horse racing weekend we look at the extremely competitive Florida Derby at Gulfstream Park.

Gulfstream Park Race 10 {Florida Derby~G1~1 1/8 mile~3 year old~Stakes}
This will be the most spectacular KD 137 prep race of all.  An eight horse field of richly talented horses will make the start.  The pace promises to be fast, very fast.  More than half the field has the ability to be a contender in this year's Kentucky Derby.

#1 Soldat (A. Garcia / McLaughlin) has a slight edge with the second highest last out speed number, a perfect record at the distance, and three sensational workouts. Clearly the one to beat.
$1 WIN / $2 SHOW.

#2 To Honor and Serve (Gomez / Mott) will be one of the challengers with a 100% in the money record (five races) on the surface, a decent last out speed number and four robust, peaking workouts.  He should be forwardly placed ready to strike at the top of the stretch.
$1 PLACE / $2 SHOW.

#6 Stay Thirsty (Dominguez / Pletcher) will also challenge with the fourth highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and two fine workouts.
$2 SHOW.

Other Wagering Interest
#7 Dialed In (Leparoux / Zito) could pull off the victory under a torrid pace.  This closer appears to be well prepped with the third highest last out speed number and one healthy workout.  He will brandish a deep closing kick.

10 CENT Superfecta
#1 Soldat, #2 To Honor and Serve / #1, #2 / #6 Stay Thirsty, #7 Dialed In / #6, #7.
