Another fine horse racing weekend is set to begin. Thursday will be an enjoyable Turfday at legendary Churchill Downs.
Churchill Downs Race 9 {1 1/8 mile~TURF~3 year old Up~Allowance}
A tenacious field of ten will venture out onto the grass for this Turfday feature. The entire field has raced well at this distance and are close in their speed numbers. It should be a great race.
#2 Carnival Ride (Morales / Holthus) appears to have a slight edge with the second highest (tie) last out speed number, a five race progression, and three tremendous workouts. He should have an excellent tracking ride.
$2 SHOW.
#1 Tahoe Lake [BRZ] (Cruz / McPeek) will challenge sharing the second highest last out speed number at a longer route, a three race progression, and one solid workout. He should close swiftly in the stretch.
$2 SHOW.
Other Wagering Interests
#6 Callingahard Ten (Lanerie / Simms) looks ready to close in on a superb effort. He holds the fourth highest (tie) last out speed number and two robust, peaking workouts. He has a victory at this distance and will be a contender.
#8 Newsdad (Castanon / Mott) will most assuredly be in the hunt and could off as the favorite as a result of having the highest (a triple digit) last out speed number and a two race progression. He also holds the third highest (three-way tie) speed number at the distance. He could be in it to win it.
#4 Liepzig (Lenclud / Shepphard) will be the surprise with the fourth highest (tie) last out speed number, a three race progression, and two excellent workouts. Watch for this guy to close fast.
