The weekend before the world famous Preakness we take a look at a terrific race at expansive Belmont Park.
Belmont Park Race 9 {Peter Pan~G2~1 1/8~3 year old~Stakes}
A exceptionally talented field of ten will make their start in this one. Seven in this field are Triple Crown nominated. Despite the expected defection of Zetterholm and Teeth of the Dog, both will get their Preak on at Pimlico next Saturday, it should be a fantastic race. A huge group of forwardly placed runners should open it up for those coming off the pace.
#5 Mark Valeski (Napravnik / L. Jones) is the deserved favorite with the highest speed at the distance and three superlative workouts. He will be coming off the pace ready to dispatch any challengers.
$1 WIN / $1 SHOW.
#12 Street Life (Lezcano / C. Brown) will challenge with a great closing run. He holds the third highest speed number at the distance, is working a three race progression, and has put in three robust workouts. This guy could show some great improvement.
$1 PLACE / $1 SHOW.
#11 Summer Front (Dominguez / Clement) is another that should have a nice closing kick. He will be trying dirt for the first time, but has already gone this distance posting the third highest speed number at the distance. Two strengthening workouts indicate he is ready to run a big race.
$1 SHOW.
Another Wagering Interest
#7 Hakama (J. Velazquez / Trombetta) could surprise with the fourth highest speed number at this distance and three strong, peaking workouts. He has enough tactical speed to see how things up front develop and then make his move.
10 CENT Superfecta
#5 Mark Valeski, #12 Street Life / #5, #12 / #11 Summer Front, #7 Hakama / #11, #7.
