Superfecta Sunday at Saratoga

On this lovely Superfecta Sunday we take a peek at sensational Saratoga for a grade one sprint.

Saratoga Race 10 {Alfred G. Vanderbilt~G1~6 furlongs~3 year old Up~Stakes}
A spectacular field of eight great horses will hit the starting gate.  A very talented field will make this one a tricky race to handicap.  Aside from the millionaire, Shackleford, any one of these guys can step up with a top-notch effort. The field happens to be evenly divided between speedsters and those that like to stay close to the pace.  Should be a terrific race. Let's try to sew together our first Saratoga Superfecta box of the season.

#1 Shackleford (J. Velazquez / Romans) is the class of the field with the highest last out speed number at a mile route, a two race progression, and four sound peaking workouts.  This guy could lead them through or press the pace and kick it home.  Doesn't neccessarily have to win with over $2 million banked already.

#2 Emcee (A Garcia / McLaughlin) could give the big guy a run for his money coming off a layoff with the second highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and three superb workouts.  He could tuck in right behind the leader and explode in the stretch.

#4 Rothko (Leparoux / Asmussen) will challenge with a couple of very good last out speed numbers entering into his third race of the form cycle and putting in four strong peaking workouts. This guy could surprise with a sneaky forwardly placed run.  He is our bronze horseshoe runner.
$2 SHOW.

#6 Sloane Ranger (Lezcano / Giresa) should be in the mix coming off a route with the fourth highest last out speed number, holding a five race progression, and putting in one special workout.  He has enough tactical speed to stay in this one.

10 CENT Superfecta Box ($2.40)

#1 Shackleford  +  #2  Emcee  +  #4 Rothko  +  #6 Sloane Ranger.

Stakes Saturday Results
Saratoga R10.  Whitney Invitational--G1.  Our first pick, Rule, did poorly finishing 9th (last).  Our second pick, Hymn Book, finished 4th.  Our third pick, Flat Out, finished 3rd for show money of $1.70.
Superfecta went 9-6-7-8.
Bankroll takes a dive to $2.30.  Slumping badly, we will supplement it with a ten spot for today and a better horse racing weekend next week.
