The first weekend in October and we look toward Kentucky for some sound Stakes action.
Keeneland Race 9 {Shadwell Turf Mile~G1~1 mile~TURF~3 year old Up~Graded Stakes}
A super fine group of eight will take to the grass in this annual graded stakes race. There will be pace. Nearly all in this quality field have hit the elusive three digit speed fig. Most are specialists at this mile distance. It should be a thrilling race.
#6 Wise Dan (J. Velazquez / Lopresti) should be the favorite and the one to beat. This son of Wiseman's Ferry will be tracking the pace ready to sweep by the leaders. He holds the highest (tie) last out speed number at a longer route, a two race progression, and two superb workouts. This millionaire should score a fifth win in a row.
$1 WIN / $2 PLACE.
#8 Seek Again (Rosario / Mott) will attempt to challenge with the second highest (three-way tie) last out speed number, a four race progression, and four excellent workouts. This son of Speightstown should track the pace and strike in the stretch. He already holds a victory at this distance.
$1 PLACE / $2 SHOW.
#5 Kaigun (Husbands / Casse) should contend sharing the second highest last out speed number and putting in two solid workouts. He is 100% in the money at this distance from four starts. This son of Northern Afleet should track the pace closely and could get first jump on the leaders.
$2 SHOW.
Other Wagering Interests
#3 Grand Arch (Moran / Lynch) should be in play with the fourth highest last out speed number and two high quality workouts. This son of Arch should provide a pure tracking run waiting for an opening to speed through the lane. He loves the Keeneland Turf.
#2 Optimizer (A. Garcia / Fernandez) could surprise sharing the highest last out speed number at a longer route, a two race progression, and one hardy workout. This son of the fine Turf sire, English Channel, has an affinity towards longer routes, but could be well spotted here.
