Thank goodness for Friday. Thank goodness for Turf in sunny Southern California.
Santa Anita Race 7 {1 1/4 mile~TURF~4 year-old Up~Optional Claiming}
A great group of nine will take to the grass in this longer Turf contest. There is plenty of speed signed up which should ensure a scorching pace. Most have not yet gone this distance and one has gone longer. It should be a great contest.
#8 Bailout Bobby (Trujillo / O'Neill) might have a very slight edge with the fourth highest (tie) last out speed number and two superb peaking workouts. He has traveled this distance, albeit over synthetic. This lad could surprise with a swift closing kick.
$2 SHOW.
#7 Awesome Return (Smith / Puype) should contend with the highest (tie) last out speed number, a four race progression, and two athletic workouts. He will be stretching out to this distance for the first time. This lad loves the Santa Anita Turf achieving an 80% in the money effort in five tries. Look for him to close down this bunch.
#4 Diamond Bachelor (Pedroza / Biancone) should be able to challenge with the highest last out speed number, a five race progression, and two stout workouts. He also holds the highest speed number at the distance. He has a versatile running style that may suit him well in this race.
#1 Joe's Blazing Aaron (T. Baze / Mullins) should be in the mix with the second highest last out speed number and four incredible workouts. He will be motoring on the front end and with the solid workout tab, should be able to hold on as the closers mount their attack.
