Horse Racing Weekend starts in Kentucky

We start our horse racing weekend in Kentucky with a nice Maiden race at Churchill Downs.

Churchill Downs Race 5 {6 furlongs~3 year-old Up~Maiden Claiming}
A good field of eight will trot to the gate in this mid-card maiden feature. There is an equal amount of speed or forwardly placed types and those that enjoy tracking the pace. There are two first time starters that provide and "X" factor to the race. Of those that have raced already, the speed figs come up fairly close. It should be a good race.

#7 Chanticleer (Santana / Asmussen) could break his maiden should there be an honest pace. He holds the second highest last out speed number and has put in two robust workouts. This guy also shares the second highest speed number at the distance. His connections present solid numbers.
$2 SHOW.

#4 Hard To Top (Landeros / Wilkes) might be able to get the job done at first asking. This son of Hard Spun has put in four superb workouts prepping for his first career start. His trainer has good distance/surface numbers and in Maiden Claiming races. This lad should perform admirably.
$2 SHOW.

Other Wagering Interests

#8 Pesky Cat (Milford / Estes) is coming off a moderate layoff, but should challenge. He holds the third highest last out speed number at a slightly longer sprint and three hearty workouts. This guy is 100% in the money at the distance. He should be traveling close to the pace.

#6 Mr. Wiseguy (Aragon / Thornbury) should contend with the highest last out speed number and two quality peaking workouts. This lad has a versatile running style which should aid him greatly with this group. He holds the highest speed number at the distance.
