What a grand running of the Preakness.
American Pharoah is the real deal. Congratulations to his connections.
On this Superfecta Sunday we grab a little Turf at the site of the third leg of the Triple Crown.
Belmont Park Race 7 {1 1/8 mile~TURF~3 year-old Up~NY~Allowance}
A great group of ten turfers will take to the grass in this feature. There is enough speed to guarantee a solid pace. Speed numbers are relatively close which should make for a competitive event. Our task is to string together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket.
#10 Runaway Posse (Arroyo / Woolley) might have a slight edge with the second highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and three spot-on peaking workouts. This lad will be stretching out for the distance. Watch him close swiftly into a solid pace. Having secured a win over the Belmont course, he is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.
$2 SHOW.
#2 Thurgood (Franco / Clement) should challenge coming off an extended lay off. Lightly raced, he holds a 66% in the money record from three starts. He will be stretching out to this distance as a gelding. His connections do a fine job with horse returning to the track. This guy should take up a tracking position and marshal an earnest closing.
#1 Macagone (J. Velazquez / Nihei) is also coming off an extended layoff. Prior to the layoff he rates the third highest last out speed number and a two race progression. He is the only runner in the group that has a victory at this distance. This lad has the tactical speed to fit in comfortably with whatever pace develops.
#9 Blue Shark (Alvarado / Donk) will be firing fresh off thirty rest and a maiden win. Among this group he holds the second highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and one stout workout. He too has the tactical speed to stay the course.
10 CENT Superfecta Box ($2.40)
#10 Runaway Posse + #2 Thurgood + #1 Macagone + #9 Blue Shark.
