Furlong Friday in Florida

Happy New Year to All.
And Happy Birthday to all our Equine athletes.

Off we go to sunny Florida for our Furlong Friday play.

Gulfstream Park Race 8 {6 furlongs~4 year-old Up~fillies/mares~Starter Optional Claiming}

A nice full field of ten will go to the gate in this featured sprint. There is enough speed to keep an enduring pace. Speed numbers are fairly close to make for a competitive event. It should be an exceptionally good race to wager and watch.

#5 Forest Funds (Navarro / R. Preciado) might have an edge with by far the highest last out speed number, a four race progression, and two superb workouts. She appears to enjoy this particular sprint distance as well as the Gulfstream track. She should be in the thick of the lead pack of runners.
$1 SHOW.

Other Wagering Interests

#2 Boheme de Lavi (Jaramillo / Gonzalez) should challenge with the second highest (tie) last out speed number and three workwomanlike works. Should the pace get frothy, she should have a key advantage with his closing style. She shows the highest speed number at the distance.

#1 Racen (Gaffalione / De Paulo) comes down from Canada looking to contend with this group. With solid connections and a superb effort two races ago coupled with three stellar peaking workouts, she looks ready to run well. She should be motoring close to the pace ready to score.

#4 Miss Wilby (Castellano / Vitali) comes in from Suffolk Downs with three wins in a row under her saddle. Her last two efforts produced decent speed numbers and she has put in three solid peaking workouts. This gal is another that should be among the forwardly placed herd.
