Sam Houston Race Park Race 9 {Houston Turf Stakes~1 1/16 mile~TURF~4 year-old Up~TX~Stakes}
A smashing field of nine Texas breds will hit the green in this last on the card Stakes race. Hopefully the rain holds off and it goes well on the Turf. There is some speed to maintain an honest pace. Speed numbers are very close making it any horse's race. It should be a fine race for the night cap.
#2 Mav Master (Wade / Craddock) might have the edge as he goes for his second win in a row. He holds the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and two vigorous, peaking workouts. A son of Mizzen Mast, he should track the pace closely sprouting in the stretch.
$2 WIN / $3 PLACE / $5 SHOW.
#7 Don't Blame Dexter (I. Diego / Broberg) will challenge as he makes a surface switch from dirt to Turf. He shows a couple of good last out speed numbers as he secured victories in both over dirt. This guy can be expected to be forwardly placed. A son of McGolden Song, he is 72% in the money from seven career starts.
$2 PLACE / $3 SHOW.
#10 Can't Be Wrong (Gondron / Pish) should contend with the highest speed number at this distance, a two race progression, and two stamina producing workouts. This son of Broken Vow should be tracking and closing gallantly.
$2 SHOW.
#9 Moojab Jr (Guerra / Torrez) looks ready to compete with a couple of good last out speed numbers, a two race progression, and two super endurance work efforts. He should be closing well given an ample pace. A son of Moojab, he is 72% in the money from eleven career starts.
