We look in on the last race at "The Great Race Place" on this Superfecta Sunday.
Santa Anita Race 9 {6 1/2 furlongs~Downhill Turf~3 year-old Up~Optional Claiming}
A good field of ten will head down the hill in this optional claiming race. There is a plethora of speed which should guarantee a fast pace. Speed numbers are very close making it literally any horse's race. Our task is to thread together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta ticket. It should be a fabulous race.
#10 Oiseau De Guerre (Gaffalione / McCarthy) might have the edge with the third highest speed number at the distance and a proven in the money record of 80% from five starts at same. This lad has put in three dynamite workouts in preparation and has the tactical speed to feel out the pace. A son of War Front, he loves the Santa Anita Turf. He is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.
$3 SHOW.
#5 Flip the Coin Jan (Figueroa / O'Neill) should challenge with the second highest last out speed number at a route and one solid workout. This guy should be forwardly placed. He has already notched a win at this distance all the while holding the fourth highest speed number at same. A son of Trappe Shot, he has the most wins, three, of this group.
#7 Placido (Prat / Callaghan) is another with a win on the downhill Turf course. He holds the third highest (tie) last out speed number and has put in four superb peaking workouts. A son of Shackleford, he should be tracking the pace closely ready to strike.
#3 Diversionist (Talamo / Cassidy) will be making the transition from dirt to Turf for his second career start. He holds the highest last out speed number and has put in two vigorous workouts. A son of Golden Balls [IRE], he should relish the downhill Turf course.
10 CENT Superfecta Box ($2.40)
#10 Osieau De Guerre + #5 Flip the Coin Jan + #7 Placido + #3 Diversionist.
