The Stakes schedule comes up pretty light on this Saturday. We look in on a nice Turf race for Cal Breds at beautiful Santa Anita.
Santa Anita Park {Unusual Heat Turf Classic~1 1/8 mile~TURF~4 year-old Up~Cal Bred~Stakes}
A well-blended field of ten will hit the Turf in this annual contest.
Past Performances used: Equibase.
With an intact field of ten this should be a highly competitive event with any of these fellas capable of victory. There is a nice balance of speed which should produce an honest pace. Speed figs are very close. Six have improving speed numbers over their last three races. All but one has raced over the Santa Anita Turf. It should be one of the best Stakes races on the day.
#7 Aligato (Prat / Glatt) is capable of tracking his way to the winner's circle. He holds the highest last out speed number and three solid workouts. This guy has hit the board in all of his seven starts over the Santa Anita green. He loves the surface, distance, and course. A son of Kitten's Joy, he is 85% in the money from fourteen starts.

#5 Kings River Knight (JJ Hernandez / Sadler) is the deserved morning line favorite with the second highest (tie) last out speed number and four powerful peaking workouts. He is going for his third win in a row. This gelding has the tactical speed to run with whatever pace develops. A son of Acclamation, he is 92% in the money from thirteen starts.

#10 Royal n' Rando (F. Alvarado / Specht) should give a fine showing in the closing jumps of the race.
