Horse Racing Weekend begins at Belmont

It's Derby week. Today we take a peek at a nice Turf sprint up in Elmont, New York.

Belmont Park Race 3 {6 furlongs~inner TURF~3 year-old Up~Fillies/Mares~Allowance}
A splendid field of eight will tromp out to the grass in this early carded feature.  There is enough speed to keep the pace active. Speed numbers all come up close. Three in here have not yet hit the grass in their career as yet. It should be a good race.

#5 Lady Kreesa (I. Ortiz / Donk) might have an edge going into this one with a lengthy layoff. She holds the third highest last out speed number, prior to the layoff, at a route and has put in four superb peaking workouts. She does hold the highest speed number over the surface. This gal should be forwardly placed ready to romp.

Superfecta Sunday, Southern Cal Style

On this Superfecta Sunday we take a peek at a fine group of Turfers in a graded stakes mile.

A closely matched group of eight will hit the green in this feature Turf action. There is sufficient speed to carry a speedy pace. Speed numbers closely resemble one another, It should be a highly competitive event. Our task is to knit together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket.

#2 Thegilinthatsong (Nakatani / Hollendorfer) goes into this one in relatively good form, fresh and ready to drop into this mile distance. She holds a couple of very good last out speed numbers and three superb workouts. This gal should be tracking the pace seeking to strike going into the stretch run. She is our Bronze Horseshoe runner.

#5 Uzziel (Desormeaux / Desormeaux) should be motoring on the front end and have enough stamina to stay on. She holds the second highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and three super fine peaking workouts. This gal will dropping in distance from her last effort.

Stakes Saturday in Sunny California

On this Stakes Saturday we take in a splendid Turf contest in Southern California.

Santa Anita Race 8 {Last Tycoon~G3~1 1/4 mile~TURF~3 year-old Up~Graded Stakes}
A closely matched field of eight will take to the grass in this featured race. It comes up very light on speed which should make for an intriguing wagering event. The speed numbers are close which should make for an highly competitive race.

#7 Quick Casablanca (Stevens / McAnally) might have a slight edge with the second highest speed at the distance, a couple of decent last out speed numbers, and three healthy workouts. This son of Until Sundown could track the pace closely and unload into the stretch.

#2 Power Foot (Bejarano / Drysdale) will challenge with the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and four endurance producing workouts. This son of Powerscourt [GB] should also be tracking the pace seeking to strike in the stretch. He appears to enjoy the run over the Santa Anita Turf.

#5 Play Hard to Get (Desormeaux / Kruljac) should contend with the third highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and three serious workouts. This son of Purim will be running late seeking to gain through the stretch.

#4 Joe's Blazing Aaron (T. Baze / Hess) could be in the mix with a couple of decent last out speed numbers and two robust peaking workouts. This son of Graeme Hall is the only speedster in the contest. It let loose, he could wire this field. He does have the highest speed number at the distance.

Furlong Friday at Aqueduct

Furlong Friday brings a nice Maiden Claiming race from Queens.

Aqueduct Race 4 {6 1/2 furlongs~3 year old Up~NY~Maiden Claiming}
A good group of nine are expected to make the start here.  Two are first time starters that could have an impact on the race. There is enough speed to keep a decent pace. It should be a competitive race.

#2 Rich Dalone (J. Ortiz / Levine) might be the one to beat with the fourth highest last out speed number and a solid 66% in the money record from six tries to break his maiden. He should be motoring on the front race and has a chance to wire this field.
$1 SHOW.

Other Wagering interests

#7 Stone Crab (I. Ortiz / Rodriguez) should challenge with a couple of decent last out speed numbers and two healthy workouts. With a solid pace this guy should close swiftly into the stretch.

#1A  Black Tide (C. Velasquez / D'Alessandro) will contend with the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and one stout workout. This guy also has the highest speed number of the group over the Aqueduct surface.

#8 Loose Money (Cancel / Lewis) is a first time starter that could crack the in the money group at first asking. He has good connections and has put in the best workout tab of the group, running three steady peaking works.

Horse Racing Weekend begins at Keeneland

We open up our horse racing weekend with a nice classic Turf race at magnificent Keeneland.

Keeneland Race 8 {1 1/2 mile~TURF~4 year-old Up~Allowance}
A competitive group of eleven will hit the green in this allowance feature. There is enough speed here to keep the pace rolling. Speed numbers are fairly close which should make the race very contentious. It should be a very good wagering event.

#2 Heyaarat (Maragh / McLaughlin) might have the edge from the gate with the highest last out speed number, a five race progression, and four superb peaking workouts. This lad should be forwardly placed ready to move the field through comfortable fractions.

#5 Xtra Luck (B. Hernandez / Howard) will challenge with the second highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and two solid peaking workouts. He also should be forwardly placed ready to strike going into the stretch.

Superfecta at Santa Anita

On this Superfecta Sunday we take a look in on a great downhill Turf race on the final card of the glorious Santa Anita season.

A very talented group of eight will cruise downhill in this feature graded stakes race. There is a plethora of speed which will make it a fast race. The speed numbers are very, very close making it a very competitive race. Our task is to string together a winning 10 CENT Superfecta box ticket.

#8 Sweet Swap (Talamo / Sadler) might have the edge with a versatile running style. He holds the fourth highest last out speed number and has put in three stout workouts. This lad holds the second highest speed number going downhill and is an impressive 83% in the money on the course. He is our Bronze Horseshoe selection.

#6 Pure Tactics (Desormeaux / O'Neill) should challenge with the third highest last out speed number at a route and one strong workout. This guy has the most versatility of the group and should fit in to any pace that develops. He holds the third fastest speed number going downhill.

#2 Home Run Kitten (Stevens / Hofmans) will contend with the highest last out speed number at a mile route, a four race progression, and four supreme workouts. This lad has already notched two wins from three starts on the downhill course. With a ton of speed signed on, he will use his late running style to great advantage.

#5 Holy Lute (Smith / Cassidy) could be favored with the highest speed number over the downhill Turf. He holds the second highest last out speed number at a route and has put in four sizzling workouts. This guy is another with a versatile running style that will suit this field.

Illinois Derby Day 2015

On this Stakes Saturday we take a look at one of the best races on the Illinois racing circuit, the 58th running of the Illinois Derby. No longer a Kentucky Derby prep, but no less prestigious. It is great race befitting a grand track.

Hawthorne Race Course Race 9 {Illinois Derby~G3~1 1/8 mile~3 year-old~Graded Stakes}
A terrific group of nine runners will make their start in this premier Illinois graded stakes race. There is enough speed to keep a swift pace moving along. Only one of the group has traveled this distance. This crew is closely aligned in terms of speed numbers. It should be an very exciting race.

#3 Cross the Line (Geroux / Hollendorfer) has a slight edge with the highest last out speed number at this distance, a six race progression, and four endurance producing workouts. This son of Line of David has the tactical speed to stay the course as the leaders turn for home. This lad was up against some stiff competition in his last and should be ready to battle valiantly in this race.

#2 Verraco (Trujillo / Cassidy) should challenge with the fourth highest last out speed number, a five race progression, and four superb peaking workouts. This son of Old Fashioned should be close to the pace ready to strike in Hawthorne's long straightaway. He is coming in from Santa Anita.
