Friday Downhill Turf

Thank goodness it is Friday.  We look at a tough downhill TURF contest at beautiful Santa Anita.

Santa Anita Race 7 {6 1/2 furlongs~downhill~TURF~4 year old Up~fillies/mares~Optional Claiming}
A fabulous race will take shape as nine are entered in this downhill TURF sprint.  Not many in this group have gone this distance let alone hit the downhill course.  There are lots of layoffs among this bunch and all but one are coming off a longer route or sprint.  This will be a tough one to guage.

#8 Talktoomuch (Talamo / Mitchell) looks much the best coming off a long layoff with the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and four serious workouts.  She could get first jump on the group with a nice tracking run.

#3 Whisper Louise [IRE] (Espinoza / Cassidy) will pose a challenge coming off a longer route with the second highest last out speed number and putting in two great workouts.  She holds the highest speed number over the Santa Anita Turf.  A closing kick could put her in the winners circle.

Other Wagering Interests

#7 Long Lake Krista (Bejarano / Reed) will be a solid factor with the fourth highest last out speed number at a route and one peaking workout.  She will be a speedy one motoring on the front end hoping to hold off all challengers.

#4 Cute N Sassy (Nakatani / Mandella) is coming off an extended layoff having run the third highest last out speed number in a long route race.  Prior to the layoff she had a three race progression going and has put in three endurance producing workouts.  She could surprise tracking the pace.

Thursday's Results
Fair Grounds R9.  Our first pick, Barracuda Bay, finished 7th (last).  Our second pick, Southern Region, finished 2nd for place money of $1.50 and show money of $1.20.
Superfecta went 3-1-4-5.
Bankroll takes a tumble to $11.50.
