There is nothing quite like a nice sprint race before going off to the movies, a play, sporting event, dinner or another great activity on a Friday. Today we peer into the Big "A" for that superb dirt sprint.
Aqueduct Race 4 {6 furlongs~4 year old Up~Optional Claiming}
An equally good field of eight should make the start in this race. A great deal of speed has signed on which could favor a horse from off the pace.
#4 Pete's Parley (Dominguez / Asmussen) looks primed to go with the highest (tie) last out speed number, a three race progression, and four solid, peaking workouts. A high octane sprint could set up nicely for this tracker.
$1 WIN / $2 SHOW.
#2 Awesome Arceno (Alvarado / R. Dutrow) will present a good challenge with the third highest last out speed number, a five race progression, and four successful workouts. This guy is tactical enough to take advantage of any pace scenario.
$2 SHOW.
Other Wagering Interests
#1 Surprise Strike (C. Velasquez / Englehart) appears ready to run a nice race with the fourth highest (3-way tie) last out speed number and two robust workouts. He should sit right off the pace ready to gear it up in the stretch.
#8 Haystack Needle (Fragoso / Rodriguez) will share front running duties and could hold on for a piece of the purse pie. He has the second highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and two strong workouts. If he can throttle down the speed, he could wire the field.
10 CENT Superfecta
#4 Pete's Parley / #2 Awesome Arceno / #1 Surprise Strike / #8 Haystack Needle.
Thursday's Results
Santa Anita R7. Our first pick, Carbonite, won (1st) for show money of $2.40. Our second pick, Al Instante [CHI], was scratched.
We scuttled our 10 CENT Superfecta as a result of the scratch. Nevertheless, Superfecta went 1-9-5-3.
Bankroll rises a few cents to $6.60.
