On the eve before the Preakness 138, we take a look at the race for the girls, The Black Eyed Susan.
Pimlico Race 10 {Black Eyed Susan~G2~1 1/8 mile~3 year old~fillies~Stakes}
A wonderful field of nine will go to the gate in this annual race. There is a massive amount of speed in here. If left uncontrolled, it could result in some real surprises. Only two have gone this distance and only two have raced in a grade one last out. It should be a barn burner of a race.
#7 Emollient (Smith / Mott) looks to have the edge if she can run a controlled pressing attack. She holds the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and three solid peaking workouts. She has gone this distance and is coming off a grade one at Keeneland.
$2 SHOW.
#3 Fiftyshadesofhay (Rosario / Baffert) will challenge with the second highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and three strong workouts. She should be forwardly placed ready to pounce. This gal is the other that is coming out of a grade one.
$2 SHOW.
#6 Maracuya (J. Velazquez / Nicks) could surprise with the third highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and three stout workouts. She will show speed in her third career start after a brief freshening. This gal has notched two wins in a row.
$2 SHOW.
Other Wagering Interests
#1 Manuka Honey (Prado / Terranova) should contend with a couple of duplicate, decent last out speed numbers, a four race progression, and three superb, peaking workouts. Expect her to be forwardly placed ready to move.
#5 Walkwithapurpose (Lezcano / Correas) should also be in the mix having already gone this distance last out. She holds a couple of decent last out speed numbers and has put in three dynamic peaking workouts. She is 100% in the money in seven career starts. This gal should be running with purpose near the front end.
