Let's close our horse racing weekend out by looking Northwest to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada for the BC Derby. Gosh, the air up there must be crisp and fresh this time of year. Great running weather for our equine athletes.
Hastings Park Race 9 {British Columbia Derby~G3~1 1/8 mile~3 year old Up~Stakes}
A superlatively deep field of twelve have their eyes on making the start in this annual contest. There are a lot of front end running types in the field which makes it an interesting challenge. Only a handful in the group have traveled the distance or longer. It promises to be an exhilarating race.
#5 Jebrica (R. Baze / Penney) looks well suited for this race with the highest last out speed number over this same distance, a two race progression, and two strengthening workouts. Could track and close nicely.
$2 SHOW.
#4 Couldabenthewhisky (Mitchell / Jenne) is also coming back from the same race and distance as Jebrica. He holds the second highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and two stout workouts. He is another that could track what could be a very fluid pace.
$2 SHOW.
#12 Northern Indy (Olguin / Jauregui) could be the big surprise with a decent last out speed number coming off a longer route, a two race progression, and two superb, peaking workouts. This pure closer could benefit from a strong pace and close down this field.
$2 SHOW.
