Another wonderful Stakes Saturday floats in. We take a peak at another terrific Derby prep race at gorgeous Golden Gate Fields.
Golden Gate Fields Race 8 {El Camino Real Derby~G3~1 1/8 mile~3 year old~Stakes}
A talented group of eight will gallop to the gate in search of Derby points. The entire herd will be stretching out to this distance for the first time. The race comes up a little shy on speed so we might see an exciting quickening in the stretch run. This crew is well prepped as it seeks a role in KD 140.
#5 Enterprising (Stevens / Proctor) has an edge with the highest last out speed number, a four race progression, and two solid workouts. He could be forwardly placed and get first jump on the field. This son of Elusive Quality has already had a successful run over the Tapeta surface.
$2 WIN / $3 SHOW.
#1 Craftsman [IRE] (Carr / Callaghan) should challenge in his second North American start. He holds a decent last out speed number as well as a strong Racing Post rating. Coupled with four vigorous workouts, this son of Mastercraftsman [IRE], should be primed for another noteworthy improvement. This lad could be tracking the pace closely ready to bang it out in the stretch.
$2 SHOW.
#4 Tamarando (R. Baze / Hollendorfer) will contend with a couple of decent last out speed numbers and two superb workouts. He gets the services of leading California rider, Russell Baze which adds to his cause. This closer, is a son of Bertrando, who has been in the money in eight of his nine starts.
$2 SHOW.
Another Wagering Interest
#2 Puppy Manners (F. Alvarado / Hollendorfer) could be the local boy that does well. He holds the fourth highest last out speed number, a five race progression, and three tremendous workouts. He too, is a closer that hopes to catch a nice pace set-up. A son of the fabulous Kitten's Joy he could capture a few Kentucky Derby points.
