Maiden Thursday Turf

The horse racing weekend begins with a neat little maiden claiming race in sunny Southern California.

A superb field of ten will go to the grass in this maiden feature.  It does come up a little light on speed, but most of these youngsters are still finding their way.   It should be a fantastic race.

#9 Kitten de Pere (Smith / Proctor) looks to have an advantage with the fourth highest last out speed number and three diligent workouts.  She also holds the second highest speed number at the distance. This gal could close swiftly into a strong pace.

#7 One More (Gutierrez / O'Neill) will challenge with the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and two solid workouts.  She should be forwardly placed ready to pounce in the stretch.

Other Wagering Interests

#5 Scene Queen (Prat / Baltas) should contend with the third highest last out speed number at a longer route, a three race progression, and two sound workouts.  She could formulate a nice tracking run and swoop into the stretch.

#4 Bella Campari (Nakatani / Sadler) should be in the mix with a couple of decent last out speed numbers and four excellent workouts.  She could be the speed of the field and if let loose on the lead, could score the victory.

#10 Lamazone (Maldonado / Sadler) will be in the hunt with the second highest last out speed number in her only race and four superlative workouts.  She is another that could track evenly and move away from the pack.

Santa Anita R5.  San Vicente--G2.  Our 10 CENT Superfecta was well intentioned, but we should have boxed to pick up the paltry winnings.  Instead we got a goose egg despite having all of the wagering interests.
Our Bronze Horseshoe runner, Papa Turf, finished 4th.
