ARLINGTON MILLION Day 2015

Much needed rain hit the Turf here in Chicago last night. The sun rose this morning to open up a beautiful day for the 33rd running of the Arlington Million.

Arlington International Race 10 {ARLINGTON MILLION~G1~1 1/4 mile~TURF~3 year-old Up~Graded Stakes}

An exceptionally talented field of thirteen will enter the gate in this classic American race. There is plenty of speed and forwardly placed types to keep a fierce pace on the front end. One would think that Euros would have the advantage, there are five of them, with possibly good ground, but the rest of the field has also traveled well over good turf. All save one are coming into this with brief freshenings. This is a extremely contentious race with any of these lads having the potential to gallop out to victory.

#2 Slumber (I. Ortiz / C. Brown) might have the edge with the second highest (tie) last out speed number at a longer Turf route and four superb workouts. This lad has the highest speed number at the distance along with an 88% in the money record at same. A son of Cacique [IRE], he should take up a tracking position looking to plow through the stretch.
$2 WIN  /  $3 PLACE  /  $5 SHOW.

#11 Maverick Wave (Buick / Gosden) will be up to the challenge coming in from across the pond with two last out victories racing over in Great Britain. He has a win at this distance in his only try. A son of Elusive Quality, he should be forwardly placed ready to romp into the stretch. His connections are superlative in raids on North American turf.
$2 PLACE  /  $3 SHOW.

#7 The Pizza Man (Geroux / Bruggemann) is the local favorite with an impressive 91% in the money record over the Arlington Turf. He holds a couple of very good last out speed numbers which produced victories. A son of English Channel, he has the tactical speed to stay close and then launch into the stretch. He appears to be in great form.
$2 SHOW.

Other Wagering Interests

#5 Wake Forest [GER] (E. Pedroza / Wohler) comes into this race from terrific racing in Germany and Italy. He appears to be in fine form and will use a close to the pace tracking style to secure his piece of the purse. This guy loves the distance with an 83% in the money record from six starts. A son of Sir Percy [GB], he is a true Turfer.

#4 Big Blue Kitten (Bravo / C. Brown) should be in the hunt with the highest last out speed number at a longer Turf route, a two race progression, and four hearty workouts. This millionaire son of Kitten's Joy is a deep closer and should get a pace he relishes. He has the best overall in the money record of 88%.

#3 Bookrunner (Mosse / Delzangles) will be stretching out for this, but distance should not be a problem. A son of Tiznow, he should be forwardly placed seeking to pounce coming into the stretch. He has raced grandly over in France and appears to be in great form coming into this event with a couple of last out in the money performances.
