Gulfstream Park Race 9 {Harlan's Holiday~G3~1 1/16 mile~3 year-old Up~Graded Stakes}
A good field of nine will go to the gate in this annual contest. There is enough speed to create a fluid pace. Speed numbers are fairly close. It should be a terrific race as Gulfstream ramps up its Championship season.
#7 Fear the Cowboy (Castellano / Loza) could have the edge with the second highest last out speed number and a two race progression. This guy loves the track and the distance. He is a strong 65% in the money from twenty-six starts. A son of Cowboy Cal, he should take up a tracking position and strike in the stretch.
$1 WIN / $2 PLACE / $3 SHOW.
#3 Destin (J. Velazquez / Pletcher) will take up the challenge with the third highest last out speed number at a longer route and two sturdy workouts. He is another that relishes the distance and the track. This lad is 64% in the money from fourteen starts. A son of Giant's Causeway, he should track the pace closely, ready to duel in the stretch.
$1 PLACE / $2 SHOW.
#2 Mr. Jordan (Zayas / Plesa) should challenge with the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and one stout workout. This veteran is yet another that enjoys immensely the distance and the Gulfstream Park circuit. A son of Kantharos, he has the tactical speed to stay right on the pace and get the jump in the stretch.
