Stakes Saturday and we are back at it, looking at a great race at beautiful Keeneland. Perhaps a Turf tune up before the Breeder's Cup Races the first weekend of November.
Keeneland Race 9 {QE II Challenge Cup~G1~1 1/8 mile~Turf~3 year old~fillies~Stakes}
There are so many good fillies in this race, it makes it incredibily difficult to choose a winner. All have hit or been very close to a triple digit speed number over the Turf. It will be a spectacular running of this annual contest.
#5 Nereid (Talamo / Shirreffs) has a tiny edge over this talented field with the second highest (tie) last out speed number, also the second highest speed number at the distance, and four superb workouts. She should be close to the pace prepping for an oustanding strike.
$2 SHOW.
#8 Summer Soiree (Dominguez / Motion) could be the speed of the race, possibly wiring this field. She holds the highest last out speed number as well as the highest speed number at the distance. Her workout tab of three strong, peaking workouts is the best of the bunch.
$2 SHOW.
#1 Star Billing (Espinoza / Shirreffs) will also challenge mightily sharing the second highest last out speed number and the second highest speed number at the distance. She has put in four superior workouts. She could track the pace and wait to make her move in the stretch.
$2 SHOW.
Another Wagering Interest
#3 Winter Memories (Castellano / Toner) will be in the mix with the fourth highest last out speed number and the second highest speed number over Turf. She has logged in two hearty workouts. She could surprise.
